Data loggers must be programmed to be able to record. This means that the user must provide it with information on how to register. Therefore, a software that can be on a PC or on a mobile, an app, is used to send to the data logger the necessary information on how to perform the recordings.
The main parameter is the rate of acquisition! Every how much a recording must be done, for example every second, every 10 seconds, every minute, every 15 minutes and so on.
After having installed the software it is necessary to connect the data logger to the software itself directly or through the interface.
Usually, the loggers must first be programmed, after being connected to the software, and subsequently started; at the end of the process they are recovered, reconnected and the data downloaded from their memory.
